Our Alagnak River fly fishing lodge is situated on a bank overlooking the Alagnak River right in the middle of the tidewater section. What this means is that as all five species of Pacific salmon enter the river daily on the tides, they are within a ten minute boat ride either up or downriver, depending on the height of the tide. We, at our Algnak River fly fishing lodge, fish this stretch of water almost every day of the season. We capitalize daily on the fresh salmon that are streaming into the Alagnak River. From the first week of July, til the end of August, we can fish from our Alagnak River lodge daily with minimal travel times.
Our Alagnak River fly fishing lodge has been at this location since the early 90’s. As the saying goes in any business, location is everything. We have beautiful views of the Alagnak River, and unbelievable sunsets every day of the summer. Out guests can take home salmon if they choose, as we follow strict rules set by the Alaska Fish And Game. We have the capacity at our Alagnak River lodge for each guest to take home approximately 45 pounds of fresh fillets. We fillet the salmon moments after they are caught, and vacuum pack them to guarantee freshness for the long winter. From King salmon and sockeye salmon at the start of the season, to silver salmon and chum salmon in the end, we catch them all!
Our guests have the option to eat their salmon the day they catch it. Our chef prepares the salmon in many ways. Some favorites are a whiskey salmon, and a beer battered version. We have served the beer battered salmon for appetizers since we opened up the lodge. This beer battered salmon recipe is one that we just cannot give up!
